Masculine energy is centered in calm power and not force.

A WORKSHOP

with John Markland

lA: December 16th– 20th

Masculine energy seems to have gone astray, lost the path somewhere over the last few decades and it may be fueling the angry man, the depressed man, and the hiding man. There is a beautiful power and flow within the masculine which creates space and protection for the feminine, so it is freely untamed and creative. The masculine is not about proving itself, dominating others, control, or aggression. The masculine is a connecting force between the heart and nature, it has an innate trust in the universe and lets that flow through it as to be a foundation for love, strength, and courage.

When we look at many of the “leading men” characters out there it is difficult to feel the masculine energy, it tends to be a broken, depleted, violent stereotype that just is tortured to watch and gains our sympathy but rarely our respect or admiration. The “men” seem to be lost, frantic, barely holding on to a sense of self, sense of morality, sense of truth or even a sense of reality, so they fall prey to addiction, violence, paranoia, manipulation, and blunt force. There is no power in them and therefore tension is weak and contorted. The primary tension we feel with most male characters is will they hold on, can they make it, and so, turn us all into a mother praying for her child.

The feminine energy tests the integrity of the masculine. It seeks the weakness, the cracks, the doubts, the insecurities, and it would seem has overcome the masculine in much of our world. When the masculine is true and holds strong there is a fire that ignites, and we feel it rip through our flesh and soul. Trusting oneself is a courageous act if there has been little trust on your journey. Believing you have power allows for you to lay down the sword and know you can still slay the dragon.

This workshop will test and challenge your sense of masculine and offer you tools, practices and beliefs that will align your heart. The guessing of what it is to be masculine, the mimicking of stereotypes, the forcing and controlling, the emotional disconnection will all dissolve. You will feel the panic gently fade and a quiet, certainty begin to grow.
