AUSTIN, TEXAS

with John Markland

March 17th – March 21st

This workshop focuses on how to engage acceptance. How to accept yourself more
honestly and fully. How to accept your circumstance or current position in career,
relationship, and artistry. How to accept your emotions and their blocks. Most
falsely believe acceptance requires effort or force, that it means grinning and bearing
it, or giving-up, or denying long enough that you one day will not care. Acceptance
is effortless when the motivation is true.

Acceptance is a powerful and beautiful reflection of your values. When words,
actions, and or emotions contradict your values a natural resistance occurs. This
misalignment or conflict then offers us a challenge/test/opportunity to “hold true” to
our core beliefs or we can deny, neglect, or break them. Once this happens, we feel
anger, loss, shame, resentment and create fractures in our sense of self. This often
creates Acts or Identities that we then play, while inside, we feel inauthentic.

We will address this process backwards and forwards, maybe even sideways, and
create characters either moving towards or moving away from acceptance. You will
see what a powerful tool this is, both in your life and in your work, for creating rich,
deep change. The characters who climb out of the ashes and redeem themselves are
the ones we call heroes. Learn how acceptance can build or destroy your hero.
There is both scene work and personal work so please secure your spot early so you
are well prepared with both going into the workshop.
