We often hide where we feel “not normal”, unlike others and certainly we bury anything that would make us unappealing to the people with whom we want to be liked or collaborate. We censor, we put on, we may just smile or laugh where there was no genuine impulse to. Sometimes though, we go down the rabbit hole like Alice in Wonderland and find ourselves taking one thing to make us big or taking something else to make us small, ultimately, we contort ourselves into unnatural forms.

This class will be a Mad Circle. You will be given 30 questions to use as a blueprint for building a character (not the studio’s typical questions). You will have to come each week as a different person including but not limited to voice/accent, backstory, facial expressions, dress, body posture and movements, tics/gesturing and an energy/disposition that is unrecognizable from the week before.

The circle will be given a task or challenge to achieve that, ultimately, will require a collaboration of every personality in the circle – GOOD LUCK. The twist will be the truth vs. lie. With each character you create there must be at least one aspect or quality that is true to you but something hidden or censored.

This circle will be your chance to take risk, to swing for the fences and go way beyond what you have ever felt too scared or uncomfortable to try. I want a Mad Circle and I want it done with more focus and diligence than any characters you have created before. I will moderate, but maybe, even I will be in character.
