Decades:1970’s

be ICONIC

in person

with John Markland

August 5th

Be the actor who shocks and surprises with original unconventional takes on characters. Be the actor who is unpredictable and known for bringing more than what is on the page. Directors, producers, and casting directors are always hoping to catch the next rising star. It separates you from the pack and places you in the memory banks of those you want to collaborate with. How do we develop this muscle?

You will be asked to step into the shoes of iconic characters from the 1970’s. We will then import these characters into the great plays of the decade. Become General Patton, Lois Lane, Don Corleone from the Godfather, Sally Bowles from Cabaret, J.J. Gittes from Chinatown, Mabel from a Woman under the Influence, R.P. McMurphy from One Flew Over the Cookoo’s Nest, Rocky, Carrie, Tony Manero from Saturday night Fever, Annie Hall, Sonny from Dog Day Afternoon or Joanna from Kramer vs. Kramer.

You will then embody these characters in award winning plays from the same decade. Plays such as Betrayal, Equus, Amadeus, Buried Child, Annie, The Elephant Man, Seascape, Does a Tiger Wear a Necktie, Cloud 9, Travesties, Sweet Bird of Youth. The possibilities are endless, and the work will be challenging you on so many boundary breaking levels that you will have to exist in your risk-taking core.

We will invent and destroy and redefine the messages of old and help to face-lift the potent truths buried within these stories. We will push the boundaries of convention and hyper-activate our permission giving core. Risk and play as one.

If you want to be an actor in the depths of your soul. If you feel the calling within you. If you are willing to pull back the curtain and hold yourself accountable to the fears, doubts and vulnerabilities that reside within. If you want to live and breathe acting and are willing to put in the time, effort, drive, commitment, and blood, sweat and tears then join the tribe and feel the daring we share.

We are posting early so there is more time to work and, if you have an actor you wish to partner with then you can register early together and get to work.
